vyner street pt2.

some random examples of an exhibition in a gallery space on vyner street. vyner street galleries open their doors every first thursday of the month (www.themillcoproject.co.uk/portfolio/first-thursday/). winter brought a different atmosphere to the monthly event but it was still as busy in the spaces and through the street. images above are from a particular dominator/submissive exhibition (www.helengorrill.com) where the women are beautifully painted with bright inks on large scale wall hangings, and men were on the floor so you can “walk all over them”. other strange items in the room included a garment with embroidered and beaded womens private parts. some other key artists and art firms that feature their work are the websites below. james x: http://www.farcryproductions.weebly.com   http://www.nettiehorn.com   http://www.beerslambert.com    http://www.florenceboyd.com

david hockney on an ipad.

an unusual exhibition to say the least. but hockney invites the use of the ipad for drawing and painting. i think its a good idea and will get a lot more people tapping into their creative side. photos taken at the current exhibition in the louisiana moma, denmark

poul gernes.

scandinavian artist poul gernes played an important role in the painting, sculpting and filmmaking world for 50 years until his death in the 1990s. “he constantly sought to link art to life by means of colour and design.” this exhibition is on at malmo konsthall until the 21st of august, definitely worth a look!

peterborough summer festival.

every year peterborough central park hosts the summer festival to bring the community together. there were lots of little stands with shops, information, and freebies ( : as well as large music stages and tents with groups from different religions, and societies. another large aspect of the event is to inspire the artist inside you with artists on site as actors, comedians, painters, etc. nice that the weather held out too ( :

new blood.

just off brick lane the old truman brewery held an event called new blood which featured graduates from graphic design, illustration, photography, etc. although i felt bad taking photos of peoples work so only a  few snaps of the atmosphere and surroundings. the cmyk paper: a little shop featuring origami folds made into cute things for a competition to be shown in the shop. in the shop there was also a table with the pop out origami pieces to put together your own cmyk origami on site! ..sadly i didnt take the graphic artists name down sorry) : and cant seem to find it anywhere online, but amazing stuffs!
